1440 bottles of foreign liquor from other states worth Rs 8.50 lakh recovered

Shop seller sent to jail, case registered against licensee and smuggler under relevant sections

Lucknow: Excise team got a big success in Lucknow. 1440 bottles of foreign liquor from other states worth about Rs 8.50 lakh have been recovered from Natkur foreign liquor shop under Bijnor police station. The seller has been sent to jail after registering a case against the seller, licensee and smuggler under relevant sections. Action is being taken to suspend the shop license while confiscating the entire stock of the shop.

Giving this information, Lucknow’s District Excise Officer Rakesh Singh said that on the information of the informer, raids were conducted in Natkur foreign liquor shop and nearby areas under Bijnor police station. The shop was thoroughly searched by Laxmi Shankar Vajpayee, Excise Inspector in charge, Sector 11,  Vivek Singh, Excise Inspector, Sector 5 and  Vijay, Excise Inspector, Sector 9.

During the search, the various brands of liquor bottles kept inside the shop counter were scanned through the departmental app and on physical verification, the codes and caps pasted on the bottles, half and quarter bottles were found to be fake.  Singh said that during the thorough search, a total of 1440 bottles of Rajdhani brand foreign liquor and 120 boxes were found in the licensed premises of the shop, whose estimated cost is Rs 8.5 lakh, which was permissible for sale in Chandigarh. Apart from this, 1005 fake QR codes kept in rolls and a total of 6141 fake caps of different brands were also found. Apart from this, empty bottles of different brands were found in two sacks.

Singh said that on strict interrogation of the seller Himanshu Jaiswal present at the shop, he told that this shop is allotted in the name of his mother  Premvati and Vishal Jaiswal, resident of Nazirganj police station Hasanganj Lucknow was helping him in this work. Registering a case against the seller, licensee and smuggler of the shop under the relevant sections of the Excise Act and Indian Penal Code, seller Himanshu Jaiswal was sent to jail. The entire stock of the shop has been confiscated and action is being taken to suspend the shop license.
